2006 highlights

February

Union Collective Agreement – MICC was one of the first child care centres to enter a UCA with staff to protect their rights following the introduction of the Federal Govt Industrial Relations legislation.

Grant from Australian Government – grant received for upgrade of the Baby Room.

March

Family BBQ – great weather, many families came and lots of fun was had by all. A great way for parents to meet.

April

Playground Upgrades – Baby Room decking and garden; Toddler Room garden, platform, bike track.

Strategic Plan – Reviewed, amended and updated.

May

Dorothy the Dinosaur & Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea – Dorothy performed for our children and our gold coin donations raised money for Cancer support.

June

T for Teddy Day – fundraiser for support of research into juvenile diabetes.

Baby Room Upgrade – commenced new sleep room and storeroom extension, including covered walkway.

Web Site & Broadband – Web site development is underway. The Centre now has Broadband access.

August

Government of South Australia – Department of Education & Children’s Services – the Centre’s licence renewed for a further two years.

September

Parent Evening – Gender Development and Issues affecting Infants, Toddlers and Pre-Schoolers – Guest panel of presenters held an interactive workshop for parents. An educational and informative evening.

Annual General Meeting – AGM followed by staff presentation on the “Kindergarten Literary Workshop”.

October

Children’s Week – last week in October.

Childcare Professionals Appreciation Day – staff recognised for their good work and commitment to the Centre.

November

Working Bee – Spring Clean of the Centre.

Parent Direct / Chalk Catalogues – Toy orders received for parents and raised vouchers for staff to use to purchase toys, games and equipment for the rooms.

December

Salvos Christmas Appeal – donations collected at the Family Tea and food donations collected for local families.
